Expand Your Focus – Going Beyond a Limited Focus to the Many Layers of Perception

The majority of individuals have made up an unthinkable amount of rules, controls and benchmarks for themselves on what they should be, what they should do and what they should have and they place these overlays on the top pedestal of their ‘gonna-do’ demands. Even with all these controls they still have drama, they still feel unfulfilled and they still ask for guidance and answers from someone in their outer reality. Because they place their attention on the events that trigger the most reaction and they focus on the drama games of their experiences, their 5 senses only allows them to perceive the outcome, but cannot comprehend or understand what motive is going on behind the scenes of that issue.

When you are stuck in the mind you can’t see the big picture of something that is happening in your life. You can’t perceive what the energy structure is all about behind the scene of that event. What would the energetic motive be, behind that event? Do you have a limited narrow vision, to where you can’t see the forest for the trees? Do you focus on just a limited perception and potentials without realizing that you have a choice, because there are many layers that will give different insights, awareness and understanding within every scenario?

To address and solve your issues, problems and challenges to expand your focus can be broken down into 2 categories.

  1. Analogy of a Limited Focus

  2. Many Layers of Perception

Let’s take a look at each category.

  1. Analogy of a Limited Focus – Within your reality there are many layers of limitations that reflect your perceptions, your level of consciousness or awareness. An example of a limited focus is the statement that ‘you can’t see the forest for the trees’! Another statement is that ‘you can’t see the view through a dirty window’! When you put these two statements together to form an analogy, you can observe many different layers of perceptions and levels of consciousness.  Say, if you are looking out a dirty, foggy or cloudy window you will not be able to see the view of the forest clearly that exists outside, let alone what is in the forest.  However, if you are focusing on the dirty smudges on the window that is all that you will concentrate on – the smudges and dirty spots on the window, and you will not be aware or even see the forest view in the distance. You may have a peripheral vision, an awareness of the forest, but you are not focusing on the forest. You are focusing on the dirty window, which does not give clarity, and this is a layer of consciousness that you are experiencing in your reality. This layer, the dirty window refers to what is happening in your world, what you are focusing on now. It is your physical-material reality of what you need and desire to sustain and maintain the necessities in life. To fulfil the passion of your heart and to fulfil your soul’s desires for growth and evolution you need to go deeper into the forest to discover other perceptions and realities about self and life.

  2. Many Layers of Perception - As your awareness opens up you begin to step out of your comfort zone, you begin to step out of the mind and you begin to take your focus off the foggy window, which is your physical-material world and allow your vision to expand beyond what you know or what you have been concentrating on. It is to understand that when you focus just on the outside world it will not completely fulfil and satisfy you, when you are not creating your inner passion, so the searching in the outer continues with the risk of the ‘insteads’ – the addictions to surface.   You will realize that there is more to life than just a foggy dirty window, and there is more than just lots of trees outside that cloudy window. Each layer is limited and each experience within your life leads you to becoming more aware and open to what lies beyond the cloudy window and the first group of trees.

Often you can stay in that comfort zone seeking guidance in the outer world before you are forced to make a change.  Change is often uncomfortable, but allows your consciousness to grow, and as your awareness opens and expands you will see beyond the smudgy window and the first group or line of trees.  As you open up you will see the forest and what’s in the forest, the wood and the shrubs.  As you move on you can bypass what is obvious and what can be seen, but to feel and know what is in the depths of the forest, what lies beyond the surface of the ground – the roots in the earth and the wood in the tree – to the cells of matter and so on. Perceptions go a long way as nothing is separate, it is contained within ALL.  It is the awareness of what is contained beyond what you can see, perceive and conceive, what is underneath the surface of the ground and what is behind the bark of the tree and even what is lurking behind each tree. All is connected but often you only perceive one thing, the dirty window or just a few isolated trees.  There are many layers and many other scenarios, but you must be ready and willing to discover beyond what you know or what you want to know. This is known as ‘not all things are what they seem – there is more to what is seen’.

Expand Your Focus and Attention –A Restrictive Focus Gives More Attention to a Foggy Consciousness

Within every scenario and every issue there are many layers of perception.  Do you focus on a certain perception as being one thing or one-way? It depends on whether you have a limited focus of only perceiving one layer or whether you are more open and aware to realize that because there are many layers it allows you to understand the situation with greater awareness, wisdom and acceptance of why that event occurred in the first place.

To address and solve your issues, problems and challenges to expand your focus can be broken down into 2 categories.

  1. Restricted Focus

  2. Attention Follows Consciousness

Let’s take a look at each category.

  1. Restricted Focus - An inadequate, limiting or a restricted vision is not to be able to focus or concentrate on seeing what is really there, let alone seeing the energy structure behind the scenes. When you focus just on one thing, when you are looking and searching for one thing only – that is all you will see, because that is all that you believe in.  Your vision is focused on the path that you are travelling on and your metaphoric peripheral vision is ignored and your inner idea of what is in the distance or what the energetic motive could be is unthinkable for the imagination. Focusing on that particular aspect will limit you from clearly observing the distant opportunity or defining deeper perspective or understanding the wisdom of the event. When you take your focus off the dirty window, to look past the smudges on the window, you will be able to place your attention on the view to whether the smudges will not bother you or hinder your perception.  That is, when you take your focus off the dramas of your physical-material reality, you will be able to place your attention on the choice that you want in your life to allow new ideas and opportunities to come in, because you can move past the stormy drama games in your reality.

  2. Attention Follows Consciousness – Through control and self-discipline you can fight, force and strive to get things from your outer material world, but that only brings stress, conflict and ill health and when you have achieved it, you are still not fulfilled. Nothing new can come in when you focus on the outer, the foggy window or foreground trees, because at your present level of awareness or consciousness is limiting the new potentials and opportunities to flow in.  When you take your focus off what you don’t want – to see beyond the trees or the dirty window is when new perceptions can come in. The limitation of only seeing the trees and the dirty window and not the view of the forest is when you cannot step out of your comfort zone.  When you cannot view what is deep within the forest, the darkness of the forest is when you cannot step out of the mind.  When you cannot allow yourself to walk into the deep forest of self-discovery is when there is inner conflict within you? The forest is a reflection of you. What are you fearful about? Perhaps you can see the forest, but can you walk within that forest – to discover what is within you, so you can get to know you?  Do you feel safe in dense, shaded or dark forest areas? Do you fear getting lost in the denseness of discovering who you are? What issues are hiding in the dark shadows of the forest that bothers you? Can you see another lack of clarity or a feeling of being unsafe in dense shaded areas? Your fears that you are placing your attention on is following you because that is the level of consciousness that you are reflecting.

Energy responds to consciousness. Your energy is where your attention is being placed and it reflects your level of consciousness.  When you lack direction, when you don’t live your authentic nature, when you feel limited or restricted and when you fear and feel unsafe about something or when you doubt or mistrust yourself to be, do or have something, it is because you are placing your attention on something that is not serving you in an empowering way. ‘What you identify with controls you and where your attention goes your energy flows, to increase and magnify with use’.  The more you focus on your limitations, the more trees will grow to hide the forest, to bury the wood so the forest will appear darker and more unsafe.

Expand Your Focus and Vision– Guidance and Answers are Present with a Clear and Open Vision

Looking outside of yourself to seek answers for your questions will disempower you. Are you ready and willing to ask yourself the questions about your issue? Can you trust the answers and know that what you hear is appropriate? Do you only want to hear a particular answer and ignore anything else? Do you have an expected outcome to that answer or when it should occur? Are you in a safe space so you can open up and have a clearly defined vision about your issues?

To address and solve your issues, problems and challenges to expand your focus can be broken down into 4 categories.

  1. True Guidance

  2. Answer is Contained Within

  3. Know-No-Agenda

  4. Clearly Opened Vision

Let’s take a look at each category.

  1. True Guidance - The more you focus on your dirty window the less foreground trees you will see in the forest view that is outside that foggy window. When you become engrossed in a certain perception, you become more limited to where you can’t even see the wood in the forest because you are just focusing on the trees. Those trees that are growing outside your forest are alone and exposed to the high winds and the storms that roll over the undulating plains. These are the outer conflicts that occur in your physical-material world, that battle with your body in your environment. The shelter from these outer storms, which is the perceived as your dark forest, it is within you, but are you afraid to go within the forest to seek shelter, to seek guidance and validation in how to cope with the storms of the outside world? Nothing outside of you can give you true guidance and direction, because others are at a different level of consciousness, they a different belief system and are having different experiences and no body can walk your path for you. You are your best guide and the only guide!

  2. Answer is Contained Within - Every answer to every question sits right in front of you, but can you see it - is it not clearly defined when you are focused on something else like the foggy window of what others say and do and what your fears, lacks and limitations are about and your foreground trees of doubt and mistrust. All of your answers are within you, but you must be awakened and trusting to ask yourself the question.  When you go outside of yourself for answers you lose your power, trust and worth. The mind can only perceive what it knows and what it can see and that is your physical material world.  ‘The mind doesn’t know beyond what it knows’, so it doesn’t know what is in the forest, what is within you, the intelligence of who you really are.

  3. Know-No-Agenda - When you do look into the forest you might see something, but it may not be what you want or expected, so you close the door on that idea.  When you have an agenda, when you expect things to look a certain way, and when you think the outcome should occur within a certain time, you will not see other perceptions, ideas or potential outcomes, because you are focused on achieving a certain thing. Agenda limits the structure of energy. You are missing the point!  You will miss the opportunity for something grander to occur, because you are not at home and at peace with yourself when you don’t live your authentic nature and when you don’t live in the now moment. You are not at home nothing can come knocking at your door, because you are not open and acceptance of all things and you cannot open up when you don’t feel safe.

  4. Clearly Opened Vision - The shadow potentials are always there behind the scenes, but they are dormant when your mind is only focused on what it knows. Your mind is like a parachute – it only functions when it is open. You can only open up and have a clearly defined vision when you make conscious choices to go beyond a limited perception.  You can only open up and be clear about your scenario when you feel safe in that now moment.

When you are willing to open up to the unknown, to go beyond your present imagination, to be ‘out of the mind’ scenario, you will be able to feel and perceive new potential outcomes.  This knowingness becomes so clear, your vision will be defined at a blink of an eye, faster than what you can put words to it.  It becomes an ‘ah-ah’ and you will know what it is all about.
